Rarely do you get a book that actually could work as a standalone story OR a supplement to the movie.Summary: Mowgli has two best friends- Bagheera the panther and Baloo the bear. Bagheera is wise and practical and teaches Mowgli things like which plants are poisonous. Baloo is happy-go-lucky and fun and teaches Mowgli not just what NOT to eat- but where to find the very best berries around. This character contrast is continued until the friends face a rainy day. One friend wants to prepare and head to the shelter. The other wants to dance in rain. Is there room enough for both points of viewIn a good cop/bad cop kind of way (only its more "fun vs practical") this book celebrates the things we learn from our different kinds of friends. It teaches that in the end, it is important to have a little of each. But the best part of this book is definitely the GORGEOUS illustrations. The colors are incredible. Bright orange jungle sunsets and cool blue rain storm scenes.
