The Pendragon's Blade ups the anti in this next installment of the The Last Pendragon Saga. Arawn, the Welsh God of the underworld has begun releasing his demons into the world and his son Mabon enters the picture with his own motives. Cadwaladr (Cade), Rhiann and the men who are loyal to Cade find themselves battling demons and their human associates. The relationship/romance between Cade and Rhiann is, to say the least complicated - well, the poor guy is hardly human any more, thanks to the Sidhe, Arianhod and his very touch can kill a person. Sarah uses Welsh mythology, paganism and christianity to great effect in this exciting rendering of Arthurian legend - Cade is Arthur's direct descendent, so readers can expect to see some familiar elements that hark back to Arthur's life (you know - sword, stone, prophecy). I really liked the adventure and characters in The Pendragon's Blade and oh, hang it all, just call me a huge fan of Sarah Woodbury's writing - she writes and researches well and I think that's why her books are so darned good and why you can easily get lost in the Wales of the dark and medievel ages. More than simply human, Cade, is the subject of long standing prophecy concerning the leadership of Wales. As the last heir in the family tree of King Arthur, he must once again unite all of Wales. He gas the help of a few loyal friends in his quest. And it will take all of them to battle an evil the world has never known before.Excellent story telling. I wish however she had chosen the form of a Novel rather than the Novella form as it is annoying and it seems like only a way to make customers keep paying to get the next episode. This was distracting from the story. Had I have known I probably wouldnt have started reading it but that's the trap isn't it. Novella's are fine for one-off stories.
