I very much enjoyed the Claiming of Sleeping Beauty, though to be honest it was the first erotica novel ive ever read in my life. Ive always been a fan of her style of wirting and I have to say to the people who think this book is like 50 shades of grey you will be disappointed to know that there is no love story in this book, thats not really Anne Rices style. Thats why I feel like the people who gave it only one star are so disappointed, because there is no loving romance, Anne Rice has never been that kind of writer. Sure in some of her books there are bits of romance but if you want something with a happy ending this isnt for you. Ifyou do decide to purchase the book please read the preface, Rice herself has even said," the books arent anout literal cruelty; they are about surrender." And thats why I feel like the series works. Like I said its my first erotica novel and I ejoyed it and those of you that say she has no idea what shes talking about, go read something safer like Twilight or something.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful.Unique!By Sarah AmesThe stories in this trilogy aren't exactly for everyone. It is graphic, and bowls over what normal people would call "boundaries". It is a fantasy based on a subculture that isn't for everyone. It is very interesting to read, it goes places I never would have thought of. It is thought provoking. It is, of course, well written, hard to put down, and one of the erotica classics. It isn't really in the same class as 50 Shades as far as I'm concerned. It is way more graphic than 50 Shades. There are a lot of throbbing members and a lot of things being rammed in everyone's orifaces. A lot of butt stuff. I'm not sure if I was supposed to be aroused or horrified. I never finished the book, but it was morbid enough that it kept me reading for a good while.See all 1026 customer reviews...
