LewisBeen a fan of DK guides for years, and this guide to Barcelona Catalonia does not disappoint. These are about the last products I buy in book form, everything else goes straight to my Kindle. They are glossy, and about the perfect size for a travel book. Slim and slender, so easy to carry, yet pages are large enough to read casually with legible type.You will find books with more pages, but they (to me at least) generally just have more "lists" of stuff. The truth is, I don't want a longer list, I want more detail. The Hotel lists are useless in travel guides (to me). I use these while in the region, and therefore already have picked and booked a hotel. Sites like TripAdvisor tell you more anyway.The list of restaurants is okay in a pinch, but these days you should have Internet in your hotel even if your phone Internet is too expensive to use while traveling abroad. Yelp does a better job for that.Where these guides excel, are great walking tours, great explanation of sites to see, great photos, street maps, etc. I could buy a Frommor's or Fodor's guide, but they wouldn't have more information about site seeing, they probably wouldn't have as many photos, and they'd just have slightly longer lists of restaurants and hotels without comprehensive reviews.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.Great, well-organized all-you-need travel guideBy Leila-KahlilWhile planning a trip to Barcelona I read or evaluated every book i could find, and this one, I thought, was the best.
