I bought this book used and the seller really took the time to pack it well. There wasn't a dog-eared page in the entire book. The color reproduction is perfect which is really key for this painter that worked during the short-lived transition between candles and incandescent light. It's incredibly transportive to the long-gone days of gas-lit cabarets. A beautiful addition to any art book collection. I'd buy it again. This work puts the oeuvre of Toulouse Lautrec in context with the place and time central to his vision- Montmartre and the Moulin Rouge. This book, to me, is the answer. Large format, easy to read and goo0d colour plates. it will give me much pleasure to constantly appreciate a great contemporary artist that had a large impact on the art of the 20th century.
