Inheriting a bed, breakfast, and supper Inn from her grandmother, Molly, Stella Brannon truly thought, she had just said goodbye to her last guest. But to her dismay, in the middle of her cleaning, she couldn't have been more wrong, if her life depended on it. Standing behind her and scaring her silly, was a man by the name of Rance Harper, who claimed he made reservations with her grandmother, for him and fourteen of his hunting buddies, to stay the weekend. For him, however, he will be staying for two full weeks. Irritated by him, she tries to prove him wrong, only for him to prove he's right. For reasons, he will never know, he looks just like her ex-husband, who was downright handsome and mistreated her badly. For Rance Harper, he vowed never to walk down the aisle again and there isn't a woman alive that could make him. By looking at Stella, he thought she was beautiful, but one blonde beauty was enough in his life. What neither one of them expected, however, was to go through the ins-and-outs of a powerful and very sudden, physical attraction for the other. As she delicately put it, they both want different things. For her, the second time around, it has to be love, marriage, kids, in other words, total commitment. If he wants a mistress, he is looking in the wrong place. When Rance becomes Stella's neighbor, to the point where he is actually dreaming about her, he still allows pride and stubborness get in his way. As for Stella, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree either, as she thinks about Rance Harper, after all, all he has to do is commit...................I loved this book by Carolyn Brown...a true romance, if ever there was one......thank you.....1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.Another great story!By CINDY F.I don't get the other reviewers bad ratings. I didn't think this story was chopped up or lacking chapters. In fact I thought the story seem to flow effortlessly. Oh well, to each his own. I love all of Carolyn Browns books. They have very believable characters and her stories always take place in a small town with a few quirky characters thrown in. While Ms. Brown tends to write mainly series books, each one of her books can also be read as stand alone's.After surviving through a bad marriage and a divorce, Rance Harper vows never to get involved with another tall blonde woman again. And Lord help him, but he would never commit to any woman ever again. A fling yes, an affair, maybe...but never marriage. Stella Brannon also survived a bad marriage to a selfish actor, who left her for his talent agent. He'd been having an affair with her for years before Stella ever found out. Now she's moved back home to heal her broken heart to also run the BB that her grandmother had left her in her will. She vowed to never even look at another tall, dark haired, brown eyed man ever again. But her dream of one day getting married and having children was still alive and waiting for the right man to come along and sweep her off her feet. Too bad their best laid plans don't always work the way they'd planned.Rance Stella clashed from the moment he entered the bed-and-breakfast and found her dancing and singing with a dust mop as she cleaned the rooms. Stella had no one booked in the BB for the next week, so imagine her surprise when she'd backed into a massive chest of a stranger holding a rife on his broad shoulders. He reminded her too much of her ex-husband and that alone sent her into defense mode.The feelings were mutual and the more she lashed out, the more he baited her.Rance has moved from Texas to establish a ranch in southeastern Oklahoma, which just so happened to be right next to the Brannon BB. Since the first day they laid eyes on one another, several events conspire to throw them into continued proximity until they learn to look beyond outside appearances to the people beneath.Would I recommend this book Yes, I certainly would.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.I wanted the leads to get on with it already!By Kindle CustomerThis is not one of my favorite Carolyn Brown books. I read it quickly, but the story wasn't as much fun as I've come to expect. The was quite a bit of tender longing, on hesitancy to commit. Of course that is what it was about.
